ABOUT RAYE :
The work I produce on my time off is often with my sage friend from the '70s: the Nikon FE I inherited from my family. My film camera, who holds years on me, offers wisdom and a depth that the digital world has passed by. Looking through the lens finder, I find myself stopping at every corner of every street, in awe of the small unguarded moments in the every day, often overlooked by others because they'd be considered "mundane." Maybe it's through photographs of the overlooked and quiet lives lived that we can see each other as one living, united, and finally find some commonality on this journey together. I hope you find a story or a smile behind each photograph.
I took an exciting year off from college to expand my global world view. I traveled seven out of the nine of the academic months, an education far better than any textbook. Four months roughing it (hard) in Southeast Asia through Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam with 17 trips to the hospital, then living in Paris for three months studying French and community activism, often and taking jaunts to Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium. I've now experienced 25 countries, cultures, languages, landscapes and I've come to the conclusion that we share this planet and need to take care of her, because she takes cares of us in so many ways.
While I dreamt of being whisked away on a plane far away, I landed instead in Chicago at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where I learned that Art History was not for me. I'm a hands-on storyteller and communicator. So, I relocated to Savannah, GA where I completed a BFA in Advertising, Branding and Communications at Savannah College of Art and Design with additional coursework in Luxury Fashion Marketing and the Business of Beauty & Fragrance. (I'd worked for Chanel at one point.)
Currently I am a lead copywriter for Edgewell. Prior, I was a copywriter for FCB NY and copywriter / content creator for Dentsu Creative in NYC.

When I'm not working on brand projects, I'm drinking macha or coffee, looking for airfares, standing in front of the camera or behind it, educating myself on new and old music, improving my rock climbing skills, attempting the couch to 5K and looking for more airfares.
